Jewish Learning and Programming

Philosophy and Curriculum

We strive to help our children become enthusiastic learners at Temple Beth Sholom's Early Childhood Center. We encourage children to be active and creative explorers; trying out their ideas and thinking their own thoughts. Our goal is to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners. We take pride in teaching them how to learn, not just in preschool, but all throughout their lives. We allow children to learn at their own pace and in ways that are best for them.

We use an integrated curriculum - Judaic and general experiences are intertwined. Social, emotional, physical and cognitive development all combine together when providing experiences for young children.

How do we develop Jewish awareness?

We develop Jewish awareness by familiarizing children with the joy of Jewish ritual observances surrounding Shabbat, holidays and kashrut. The children become acquainted with synagogue practices and families are encouraged to participate in our mini minyan services on Shabbat. Children learn songs pertaining to holiday themes; and learn Hebrew prayers and blessings. We also take pride in learning Jewish values through the practice of mitzvot.
