Religious School Director
Sharon Solomon was born in Israel. In 1980 Sharon and her family moved to Long Island where she received her education at the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County. Sharon earned her BA from Queens College in the field of Elementary Education and an MA degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Adelphi University. She has taught in our Religious School for the past ten years and has been a second language educator in day schools as well as New York City public schools for the past fifteen years.
Under the leadership of SAJES Sharon completed the Principal's Leadership Institute, focusing on developing innovative Jewish programs. She believes that the goal of the Religious School is to prepare our children to live as observant Conservative Jews who can practice religious ceremonies and rituals, taking part in an integral Jewish community; to be able to participate in Services and be sensitive to Jewish causes in their community and in other places around the world.
These goals are realized through our wonderful experiential programs that are geared to reach the interests of children of all ages through text, music, art, dance, literature and Mitzvah projects. It is our belief that children learn best through doing and experiencing hands-on activities. All the programs bring to life the true meaning and values of Conservative Judaism.
