Rosh Chodesh with Wende Jager-Hyman
- This event has passed.
Join us as we welcome guest speaker Abi Doukhan, Associate Professor Philosophy Department, Queens College. For centuries, religion has been a man’s world and world religions such as Judaism have become synonymous with patriarchy. The Hebrew Bible was written by male authors, depicts a male God and has been for centuries interpreted by male exegetes. One wonders, however, whether this is the whole story? Is there no room for women’s voices in this ancient and profound text? Join us as we begin to explore this yet undiscovered feminine voice–the lost and forgotten teachings of the Mother’s House–giving us in turn an astoundingly new vision of God. With Shavuot just around the corner, our reading will bring us into the sun-drenched fields of the book of Ruth. What new visions of God might we find between the lines of this uncanny love story between a Hebrew man and a Moabite woman?
This is a monthly program, led by Wende Jager-Hyman.
