Hostage – Humanitarian Advocate & Author, Elizabeth Hirsh Naftali will speak on Shabbat September 27, 2025.
Join us for an unforgettable conversation with Elizabeth Naftali, whose powerful book, Saving Abigail, recounts the harrowing true story of one of the youngest hostages taken on October 7, 2023.
Three-year-old Abigail Mor Edan’s world was shattered in an instant when her mother was killed inside their home in Kfar Aza, and her father was murdered just steps away. In the chaos and horror of that day, Abigail was taken hostage by Hamas terrorists and held in Gaza.
With no diplomatic training or political platform, Abigail’s great aunt, Liz Hirsh Naftali, launched an extraordinary international campaign to save her. Driven by love and desperation, Liz became a relentless advocate — sharing Abigail’s story with U.S. leaders across party lines, engaging global allies, and navigating a web of political, military, and moral complexity in an effort to bring a child home.
This is not just a story of tragedy — it is a story of resilience, courage, and the incredible power of one person’s voice.
Ms. Naftali will speak from the bima, sharing firsthand the emotional journey behind the headlines. Join us for this moving presentation, followed by a special kiddush luncheon and an opportunity to discuss the book and ask questions after kiddush in the Chapel.
