Mishlei-Proverbs-A Book of Wisdom
The book of Mishlei (Proverbs), attributed to King Solomon, is primarily a guide for educators. It contains rules for practical ethics, a subject that was the special concern of the Zekenim, the wise elders. Misheli teaches that if one conducts oneself with wisdom, one reaps the best of life, discover sources of strength which assure final victory over calamity and evil, and becomes a blessing both to oneself and society. The teachings are enhanced through the use of proverbs, rendering them more practically applicable to the reader. What is Misheli’s relevance to today’s world? With all the terrible things we read about in the news, how can studying this ancient wisdom help us cope and enrich our lives? These are some questions we will explore in studying this text. Please join us in delving into the wisdom of Solomon.
