Rabbi Ario S. & Tess Hyams Judaica Museum Fall 2025
Ufros Aleinu Sukkat Shelomecah
As the dreaded date of October 7th, falls on the first day of the festival of Sukkot this year, we are faced with the dilemma of how can we celebrate and commemorate within the same breath?
Our brothers and sisters across Long Island, Israel and all over the diaspora will gather in a sukkah, just like our ancestors, thousands of years ago, gathered in sukkot in the desert praying for God’s PEACEFUL protection. We too will stand shoulder to shoulder in prayers, stories and songs, with the resolve to stand up to hate! Am Israel Chai!
On Tuesday, October 7th the Rabbi Ario S. & Tess Hyams Judaica Museum will open the exhibit Likboa Mezuzah – Hang A Mezuzah. In defiance of antisemitism, we are proud to Hang A Mezuzah – as a sign that God protects our homes. The exhibit will feature the museum’s mezuzot collection.
To enhance and add to the exhibit, you are invited to share your important mezuzot.
We will create mezuzot and sponsor a parchment that will be sent to families in Israel, who had recently lost their homes and hopefully will have a new HOME soon.
